1. About these terms
These terms apply to every survey, quote and job carried out by Spire Skylights Coventry for a customer. Your written quote, these terms and anything we agree in writing form the contract between us. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
2. Surveys and quotes
Surveys are free and carry no obligation. Our quote is fixed for the work it describes and stays open for 30 days. It sets out the rooflight, the roof work, the finishing inside and the planned dates.
3. Accepting a quote and cancelling
A contract starts when you accept our quote in writing. If you are a consumer and we agreed the contract at your home or at a distance, you may cancel within 14 days without giving a reason. If you ask us to start work within those 14 days and then cancel, you pay for the work done up to that point. Units made or ordered to your measurements may not be returnable to us once ordered; we will tell you before ordering.
4. Our work
We carry out the work with reasonable care and skill, to current Building Regulations, using materials of satisfactory quality that match the quote. We handle the Building Control notification where the work is notifiable. If we find something during the work that could not reasonably be seen at the survey, such as rotten timbers, we stop, explain it and agree any change with you in writing before going on.
5. Your part
Please give us safe access to the roof and the room on the agreed dates, clear the area below the opening, and tell us about any planning restrictions, listing or shared roofs you know of.
6. Payment
Payment terms are set out in your quote. Any deposit is shown there. The balance is due on completion. Title in the rooflight passes to you when it is paid for.
7. Guarantee
Our 10-year workmanship guarantee applies to every installation, alongside the manufacturer's guarantee on the product.
8. Liability
We are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breaking this contract or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We do not exclude liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
9. Complaints and law
If something is not right, please follow our complaints procedure. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
